- Visiting Disney World regularly, I have noticed significantly lower crowds, especially on weekends.
- Attraction wait times have decreased and waiting for parades is no longer a lengthy ordeal.
- The current low crowds make holiday events at Disney World even more enjoyable for guests.
Ever since I was 3 years old, I have been visiting Walt Disney World. Many people believe that a trip to Disney World is impossible due to the crowds, high prices, and heat. However, now is actually the perfect time to book a Disney World vacation.
I understand that my perspective comes as an annual pass holder who lives just five minutes away, rather than a vacationing guest. However, I can confidently say that the parks currently have a unique atmosphere that makes it an ideal time to visit.
As someone who visits Disney World three to four times a week, I have taken some photos to show you what the parks look like right now.
Wait times for rides have significantly decreased
Rides like Peter Pan’s Flight, which usually have wait times of over an hour, are now being reported with wait times of 50 to 60 minutes. Previously, it would be uncommon for these wait times to be below 90 minutes. Space Mountain, typically a 60-minute wait, now has wait times of 30 to 40 minutes, even during peak afternoon hours.
There is plenty of space to walk without crowds, perfect for large families and groups
In the past, crowded conditions at Disney World often meant having people uncomfortably close to you. However, at the moment, there is ample walking room without feeling crowded.
I like to use what I call the “T-Test.” If I can walk with my arms outstretched without bumping into people, then I consider it a not busy day.
You don’t have to wait hours for a good spot for the parade, allowing you more time to enjoy the park
During peak season, many people stake out spots for the Festival of Fantasy parade hours before it starts. However, due to the current low crowds, you can arrive just 30 minutes before and still get a good spot along the route. This may be because the hot weather discourages prolonged sun exposure.
You can enjoy special holiday events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
I know it may seem early, but Halloween events begin in August in Florida. In addition to regular park operations, you can purchase tickets for special events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
During this party, both kids and adults can dress up in Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat around Magic Kingdom. Normally, these parties are crowded, but this year there is a chance that many dates won’t reach capacity, making them even more enjoyable.
You can also enjoy Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival with fewer crowds
Epcot hosts festivals throughout the year, but the Food and Wine Festival is particularly popular. From August to November, you can explore the World Showcase and try different food and beverages from around the world.
