Exclusive ‘X-Men’ Script Concept for Halle Berry’s Iconic Storm Character: A Visionary Director’s Perspective

Prepare to be astonished.

Director Matthew Vaughn revealed an astonishing story on Saturday, stating that he chose to walk away from directing the 2006 blockbuster “X-Men: The Last Stand” after discovering that certain Fox executives planned to deceive Halle Berry with a fake script.

During New York Comic Con, the 52-year-old filmmaker claimed that upon entering an executive’s office, he noticed a striking disparity between the script being sent to the “Catwoman” actress and the one he possessed, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

“I walked into an executive’s office and saw an X3 script that was noticeably different. I was like, ‘What the hell is this draft?'” recounted the “Kingsmen” director to the audience. When I asked for an explanation, he responded, ‘Don’t worry about it.’ But as the director, it was my concern.”

Vaughn continued, “He wouldn’t disclose any further details, so in a moment of frenzy, I grabbed it, opened the first page, and there it was: ‘Africa. Storm. Kids dying with no water. She uses her powers to rescue them in a thunderstorm.'”

While Vaughn admitted that it was an intriguing concept, he was infuriated by the notion that the film executives would allegedly attempt to deceive the 57-year-old Berry with a fake script.

“They said, ‘Oh, it’s Halle Berry’s script.’ And I responded, ‘Okay, but she hasn’t committed yet.’ They added, ‘This is what she wants it to be, and once she signs on, we’ll discard it,'” recounted Vaughn, as per his allegations.

“I was astonished that they would treat an Oscar-winning actress who portrayed Storm in such a manner. That was the moment I decided to leave.”

The Post reached out to Berry and Fox for comments.

Berry ultimately agreed to join the film, with the original script, alongside Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Elliot Page, and James Marsden.

Vaughn was replaced by director Brett Ratner for the project.

“X-Men: The Last Stand” grossed nearly $234 million at the domestic box office, generating a worldwide total of $460.4 million and received a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Berry made her debut as Storm in Bryan Singer’s 2000 film “X-Men.”

During an interview with Vanity Fair in 2021, Berry openly discussed her character, Storm.

“I would absolutely return to it, it’s a beloved character, I loved playing Storm, and people love Storm,” she stated at the time.

She added, “So, I would absolutely, you know, if we could find a version that would make sense, or a storyline that would make sense, I would absolutely do that, for sure.”
