Former President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday his intention to testify in the New York trial, where he is accused of participating in a long-standing pattern of substantial business fraud.

During a break on the trial’s second day, Trump informed reporters that he will take the witness stand “at the appropriate time.”

His attorneys and lawyers representing New York Attorney General Letitia James have included Trump’s name on the potential witness lists for the trial, which revolves around James’ $250 million lawsuit.

Trump frequently criticizes James and Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over the trial without a jury.

On Tuesday, Trump targeted Engoron’s chief law clerk by sharing a social media post revealing her full name and a photo of her posing with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., both of them smiling.

Reposting the photo, Trump referred to the clerk as “Schumer’s girlfriend” and accused her of “running this case against me.”

In his Truth Social post, Trump exclaimed, “How disgraceful! This case should be dismissed immediately!!”

Later in the day, during another break, Trump mentioned Schumer and the clerk again, alleging that the trial was “rigged” and “fraudulent.”

According to journalists present in the courtroom, the clerk is seated nearly directly across from Trump.

Prior to the trial resuming on Tuesday morning, Trump vehemently criticized James as a “fraud.”

“This case should be dismissed,” Trump stated while speaking to reporters outside the courtroom.

He also commented, “And she should probably be dismissed as well,” referring to James.

The attorney general accuses Trump, along with his two adult sons, the Trump Organization, and top executives, of fraudulently inflating the value of real estate properties in order to obtain more favorable loan and insurance terms, as well as tax benefits.

Trump argued on Tuesday that “Her numbers are fraudulent.”

When leaving the courtroom on Monday, Trump glared at James.

The second day of the trial commenced with testimony from Donald Bender, a former accountant for Trump and his business.

In addition to seeking $250 million in damages, James aims to prevent Trump and his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, from engaging in business activities in New York.
