Exciting Update: Google Messages Introduces New Profile Images to Replace Contact Photos

Introducing Profiles in Messages feature by Google. It is noted that user-set images will be replaced by the feature. This means that the previously set contact photos will now be replaced with the new Profile photo within Google Messages.

Profiles provide users with the ability to specify the name and image other people see in a conversation. If the individual you are conversing with has set up a Profile, their photo will show inside Google Messages. However, this feature will not change the contact’s name that you have set.

While some might not favor this change, Google asserted that most people do not meticulously maintain contact photos, with many conversations displaying initials as the image. Profiles will address the issue of receiving messages from phone numbers not saved in contacts. The addition of Profiles is particularly helpful in group chats so users can easily identify other participants. The color set for Custom Bubbles will appear for both the sender and recipient. This feature started rolling out in mid-November and is currently not widely available for beta users.
