Sphere’s exterior is coated with a 580,000-square-foot 16K LED display, which is a first for Las Vegas. Inside, the venue boasts a 160,000 square-foot 16K LED display.
The striking Autodesk/Marvel promo was crafted by visual effects studio The Mill, using Autodesk Maya 3D software. This software is extensively used in VFX production for designing, lighting, rigging, and animating characters like Goose. The promo was rendered with Autodesk’s Arnold software.
Director of Experience at The Mill, Jocelyn Birsch, expressed her excitement about the collaboration and the opportunity to bring Goose to life for The Marvels activation. The Mill is also known for creating a visual collage with sampled film clips of Elvis Presley that plays during U2’s current residency at Sphere.
Since its opening in late September, Sphere has hosted two shows: U2 residency U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere and the Darren Aronofsky-directed movie Postcard from Earth.
The new promo will run until Nov. 13, marking the kickoff of Autodesk University, the software developer’s annual design and content creation customer confab, in Las Vegas.
