Post Malone, Morgan Wallen, and Hardy graced the stage at the CMA Awards to honor the late country legend Joe Diffie. Wallen and Hardy started by performing Diffie’s 1993 hit “John Deere Green,” before welcoming Malone to join them in singing the 1994 classic “Pickup Man” as a trio.
Despite being a prominent figure in hip-hop and pop, Post Malone has displayed his affection for country music through various cover performances. His repertoire includes songs like “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” by Brad Paisley, “You Can Have the Crown” by Sturgill Simpson, and “There’s a Tear in My Beer” by Hank Williams. In addition, he also shared the stage with Billy Strings for a live rendition of Johnny Cash’s “Cocaine Blues” in 2022.
In 2023, Hardy released his country album “The Mockingbird and the Crow,” featuring Wallen. Prior to the ceremony, their song “Wait in the Truck” with Lainey Wilson was awarded early CMAs for musical event of the year and music video of the year. Notably, Wilson, the most nominated artist of the year, clinched the entertainer of the year award during the telecast.
The 37th edition of the CMAs was hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning. The event also witnessed collaborations from Jelly Roll and K. Michelle, Old Dominion and Megan Moroney, Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton, as well as Tanya Tucker and Little Big Town.
Stellar performances were delivered by Kelsea Ballerini with “Leave Me Again,” Dan + Shay with “Save Me the Trouble,” and Luke Bryan with a medley of No. 1 hits. The evening was filled with remarkable presentations from various country music stars.
