Draymond Green to Make Season Debut Against Houston Rockets
After sitting out the first two games of the 2023-24 NBA season due to an ankle injury, Draymond Green will finally return to the court on Sunday. The veteran forward confirmed his season debut against the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center. It has been about a month since Green first sprained his left ankle during the offseason. While he anticipates being on a minutes restriction, Green is uncertain whether he will start or come off the bench, according to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater.
Last week, Green was cleared for 5-on-5 practice after missing all of the Warriors’ preseason games. The ankle injury occurred just before training camp when he landed on teammate Jonathan Kuminga’s foot while going up for a layup during a pickup game.
Without their defensive leader, the Warriors have a 1-1 record, losing to the Phoenix Suns in their season opener but defeating the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center. As the team continues to adjust to the presence of Chris Paul, Green’s return will provide a much-needed boost and add another piece to Steve Kerr’s puzzle.
