Mark Zuckerberg is on the mend.
The Facebook co-founder, who is 39 years old, recently shared a series of photos on Instagram from his hospital bed, where he underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee.
In his caption, Zuckerberg expressed his gratitude for the doctors and team who took care of him. He also mentioned that his injury has delayed his plans for a competitive MMA fight, which was scheduled for early next year. However, he remains optimistic about participating in the fight once he has fully recovered.
One of the photos shows Zuckerberg pumping his fist in his hospital bed, while another photo captures his wife, Priscilla Chan, caring for him. Zuckerberg concluded the post by thanking everyone for their love and support.
Interestingly, Zuckerberg’s injury comes after Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast that Zuckerberg backed out of a proposed cage fight between the two tech industry leaders. Musk had been vocal about his desire to fight Zuckerberg, even claiming that Italy offered to host the fight at the Coliseum.
Musk revealed that he tried to visit Zuckerberg’s home near Tesla’s headquarters in California, but he found no one there. According to a spokesperson, Zuckerberg was traveling at the time.
While Musk has been the primary proponent of the cage fight, Zuckerberg has responded to the situation. He stated that it’s time to move on from the fight and focus on competing with individuals who take the sport seriously. Zuckerberg has already demonstrated his commitment to combat sports, having won gold and silver medals in a jiu-jitsu competition earlier this year.
Back in July, Zuckerberg shared a photo series with his coach, Dave Camarillo, expressing his gratitude for the lessons he has learned from training.
