If you live in Wisconsin, you probably worry about the usual threats to your car like potholes on the roads, rust from all the cheese brine that’s sprayed across the highways in winter, and maybe your fellow road users. One thing that wouldn’t cross your mind as a threat is massive snakes.
Surprisingly, a Wisconsin driver found a massive snake under their car hood this weekend, as reported by local news station WLWT 5. According to the news site, a driver in the Green Bay area discovered a seven-foot python sleeping on their car’s engine one morning and somehow managed to handle the situation calmly.
The snake was identified as a Jungle Carpet Python that had escaped in the area and was initially spotted in someone’s garage. It then went on to find its way into the engine bay. According to a wildlife expert interviewed by WLWT 5, the warm engine bay seemed like an appealing resting spot for the python. Reports from WLWT 5 state that the driver transported the snake safely to the wildlife sanctuary with the approval of Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary Curator of Animals, Lori Bankson.
“It’s not a common thing that we see,” said Lori Bankson, Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary Curator of Animals.
The reptile was safely removed from the engine bay by Bankson and a colleague at the wildlife sanctuary. It is now being cared for at a rescue center.
The snake did not belong to the car owner who discovered it. It is currently awaiting a permanent home at the Wisconsin Humane Society after a temporary stay at the rescue center.
After reaching the wildlife sanctuary, Bankson and her colleague successfully removed the python from the engine bay. The snake, which was not the property of the car owner, is currently awaiting its forever home at the Wisconsin Humane Society after being temporarily housed at the rescue center.
