The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland announced on Twitter on October 24 that 67-year-old politician and businessman Jarosław Guzy has been nominated as the new ambassador to Ukraine.
Jarosław Guzy will be taking over the position from Bartosz Cichocki, the current Polish Ambassador to Ukraine. It is worth noting that Ambassador Cichocki was the only ambassador who remained in Kyiv during the Russian invasion.
Despite recent tensions between Ukraine and Poland over grain agreements, the decision to replace the Polish ambassador to Ukraine was announced back in March.
Polish media reports indicate that Jarosław Guzy, born in 1955 in Kraków, studied sociology and history at the Jagiellonian University. He has held various positions including advisor to the Minister of National Defense in 1991 and membership in the Movement for the Republic of Poland from 1992 to 1993.
In addition to serving as an advisor to Poland’s largest insurance company, Guzy is currently a member of Poland’s Council for Cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Region.
