LUCENA CITY — Three former drug convicts were apprehended by police during a drug buy-bust operation in Lucena City on Sunday, July 9. The arrest led to the seizure of over P1.9 million worth of crystal methamphetamine or “shabu.”
According to Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon Police Chief, a member of the city police drug enforcement unit acted as a buyer and successfully arrested the suspects, namely Alvin Unlayao, Christian Aquino, and Robert Moreno. The operation took place in the coastal village of Dalahican.
During the arrest, the authorities confiscated six plastic sachets and one knot-tied plastic bag containing a total of 94.4 grams of shabu, amounting to approximately P641,920. Based on the prevailing street market price of P20,400 per gram, the confiscated drugs had an estimated value of P1,925,762.
In addition to the drugs, a mobile phone containing recordings of the suspects’ drug transactions was also seized by the authorities.
It was revealed that the arrested suspects were previously convicted on drug charges, although the details of their previous convictions were not disclosed. They are now facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
