When Jeanette Mix, a Swedish hotelier, discovered the work of interior designer Ilse Crawford in 2007, she knew she had found the perfect collaborator for her dream of opening a boutique hotel. Mix had acquired a beautiful townhouse in the Östermalm district of Stockholm and wanted a partner who shared her vision of creating an intimate space with just 12 rooms. The inspiration for the hotel came from the Swedish artist Carl Larsson and his wife Karin, who lived in a similar style in southern Sweden. The name of the hotel, Ett Hem, comes from Larsson’s book “Ett Hem,” which means “a home.”
