Eric Roberts, Prominent TikTok Star, Leaves Special Needs Assistant Role to Embrace Full-Time Online Lifestyle

Originally hailing from Downings, Co Donegal, this talented individual has spent the past eight years working as a Special Needs Assistant in autism units and mainstream schools in his hometown. Building up an impressive social media following of approximately 800,000, it became apparent to him that it was time for a new and exciting challenge. During the lockdown, his career as an entertainer took off, with his videos garnering over 20 million views. As a result, he made the decision to leave Mulroy College in Donegal’s Milford at the end of May to explore fresh opportunities.

The idea of making this career transition had been on his mind for quite some time. The influx of opportunities he was receiving sparked his curiosity and desire to see where these new paths might lead. Leaving his job was an emotional experience, but he anticipates that the true weight of his decision will sink in come September when he doesn’t return to school as usual. He thought to himself, “If I don’t take the leap now, I never will.”

One notable star of his online videos is his nephew, Oisin Roberts Browne, a 17-year-old with autism and cerebral palsy. This talented individual shares that his nephew played a significant role in inspiring him to become a Special Needs Assistant in the first place. He admires the incredible work his sister, Tanya, has done with Oisin over the years, and credits her for shaping him into the person he is today. Oisin takes great pleasure in being a part of his uncle’s social media success, and the content they create together serves as a powerful representation of neurodiversity in the online world. “Oisin loves it, and I believe people can sense the authenticity and the genuine happiness it brings me. He just celebrated his 17th birthday last week, and he’s absolutely amazing,” he expresses.

Although he is leaving teaching, he remains committed to working with children with additional needs. In the future, he hopes to venture into the realm of children’s literature and publish a book. Eric Roberts, who is signed with Andrea Roche’s agency, recently appeared on a show called Big Comic Energy, produced by the BBC. Now considering a full-time move to Dublin, he wants to explore new opportunities that come his way.

Amidst all these exciting developments, Eric is also busy planning his upcoming wedding to his childhood sweetheart, Niamh Emmett, whom he proposed to during a romantic trip to Santorini in March 2022. The two have known each other since their teenage years and have been in a committed relationship for the past four years. Niamh was the one who encouraged him to start creating viral videos when he found himself bored during the lockdown. “She’s the woman who made it all possible. She takes care of all the photos and videos for me. She’s the first one to say, ‘You spend too much time on your phone,’ and I jokingly respond, ‘It’s all your fault.’ My addiction transitioned from watching videos during the lockdown to making them,” he jokes. The proposal took place on a yacht in Santorini, and Eric had been carrying the ring with him for three months, waiting for the perfect moment. When they were in Greece together, he knew the time was right, saying, “It doesn’t get much better than this.” To celebrate the occasion, he embarked on a five-day stag trip to Las Vegas with 12 of his closest family and friends. The couple is set to tie the knot on August 21 at the beautiful Harvey’s Point hotel in Donegal.

Eric Roberts shared these exciting details during the launch of Virgin Media’s 2 gigabit full-fibre broadband in Letterkenny, Killarney, and Tralee. The company has arranged for cereal boxes to be delivered to homes in these areas, with hidden golden tickets offering prizes to the lucky finders.
