Apple has unveiled a revamped version of its Apple TV app in the latest tvOS 17.2 beta, offering improved navigation and content discovery options. The redesigned app features a dedicated sidebar that consolidates content from various apps and streaming services, including Apple TV+.
The sidebar introduces separate sections for Search, Watch Now, Apple TV+, MLS Season Pass, Sports, the Store, and the Library.
Additionally, the app includes a “Channels and Apps” area where users can access content specifically from streaming services that are integrated with the Apple TV app. Some of the options available are ABC, CBS, Comedy Central, Hulu, ESPN, Discovery, Peacock, and Prime Video.
When selecting a particular channel like Hulu, users will be presented with tailored content recommendations and watch suggestions exclusively from that service.
The “Up Next” section in Watch Now remains unchanged, but Apple has introduced a new “My TV” section that appears below the top charts. This section appears to offer TV recommendations from various networks, serving as a replacement for the previous “For You” feature. While there is no dedicated Channels section in Watch Now, the app now includes a separate “Channels and Apps” feature located in the Store.
Furthermore, Apple has made adjustments to the Apple TV app for iPhone and iPad users. The Store section no longer features separate tabs for Movies and TV Shows, as everything is seamlessly integrated together.
