Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, recently announced his plans to change the platform’s logo. In a tweet, Musk stated, “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” He further added that if a good enough logo is posted tonight, it will go live worldwide the following day.
Musk uploaded an image of a flickering “X” as a potential new logo. During a Twitter Spaces audio chat, he confirmed that the logo will change and expressed his belief that it should have been done earlier.
Under Musk’s leadership since he acquired Twitter in October, the company has rebranded itself as X Corp. This reflects Musk’s vision of creating a “super app” similar to China’s WeChat.
At the time of writing, Twitter has not responded to requests for comment.
According to Twitter’s website, their logo, featuring a blue bird, is their most recognizable asset. The company is protective of it. However, in April, the bird logo was temporarily replaced by the Shiba Inu dog, the mascot of Dogecoin, leading to a surge in the meme coin’s market value.
