Elon Musk Sparks Controversy with Paris Hilton: What’s the Beef About?

  • Elon Musk says he wasn’t impressed by Paris Hilton’s cookware advertising campaign.

  • Hilton’s company suspended its ads on X a month after announcing an official partnership.

  • Musk has been taking aim at advertisers recently as more companies pull ads from X.

Elon Musk’s latest target for his frustration with advertisers appears to be Paris Hilton.

Back in October, X’s CEO Linda Yaccarino promoted an official relationship between the platform and Hilton’s company, 11:11 Media.

However, the partnership was short-lived. Last month, Hilton’s company pulled its ads from X due to concerns about the platform’s antisemitic content.

This fleeting partnership seems to have unsettled Musk, as he is now criticizing Hilton’s ad campaign on X.

“The ad campaign wasn’t very convincing tbh,” Musk stated in an X post on Sunday, referring to the personal cookware line that Hilton was promoting. “I don’t think Paris cooks a lot.”

In addition to advertising her cookware on X, Hilton has also promoted her products on Instagram and TikTok.

Companies like Disney and IBM have withdrawn their ads from X after Musk seemed to endorse an antisemitic post.

While Musk may have apologized for his antisemitic post, he has not concealed his frustration and disdain for the advertisers who abandoned X.

“If somebody is going to try to blackmail me with advertising? Blackmail me with money? Go fuck yourself. Go. Fuck. Yourself,” Musk stated in an interview at last week’s The New York Times DealBook Summit.

“Is that clear? I hope it is. Hey Bob, if you’re in the audience, that’s how I feel,” Musk continued, referencing Disney’s CEO Bob Iger, who had spoken at the same event.

Representatives for Musk and Hilton did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
