Elon Musk Openly Challenges Mark Zuckerberg to a Jiu-Jitsu Duel as Meta Contemplates Twitter Competition

Twitter owner Elon Musk has initiated a playful challenge to jiu-jitsu-trained Mark Zuckerberg by proposing a “cage match.” Musk, who recently commented on Zuckerberg’s rumored project called Threads that is expected to rival Twitter, sarcastically expressed his concern about Earth being solely under Zuckerberg’s control. In response, Musk jokingly suggested a physical fight between the two. Zuckerberg, in his Instagram story, shared a screenshot of Musk’s challenge and wrote, “Send me location.”

Both Musk and Zuckerberg have backgrounds in martial arts, with Musk having trained in various disciplines such as Kyokushin karate, taekwondo, judo, and even “Brazilian jiu-jitsu briefly.” On the other hand, Zuckerberg has recently participated in a jiu-jitsu tournament in May, showcasing his commitment to the sport. Zuckerberg has acknowledged that being willing to start as a beginner and face defeat is crucial for personal growth.

In a separate incident, Zuckerberg found himself in the spotlight when a video of him wrestling in a jiu-jitsu fight went viral. Contrary to reports that he had been knocked out, Zuckerberg clarified that he had not lost consciousness during the match. The referee mistakenly interpreted his grunting as snoring and prematurely called off the fight, giving the win to his opponent. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has been working on an upcoming text-based app that they refer to as their response to Twitter.

In the past, Musk has proven himself to be unafraid of making audacious challenges, as demonstrated by his proposal to engage in “single combat” with Vladimir Putin and the stakes being Ukraine. However, challenging the former head of the KGB, who is a judo blackbelt and an expert in the sport, may be more than Musk can handle. Putin has even co-authored a book on judo titled “Judo: History, Theory, Practice” and was the honorary president of the International Judo Federation until his suspension due to the conflict in Ukraine.
