Elizabeth Holmes’ Prison Term Reduced by 2 Years

Disgraced former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes has had her prison sentence reduced by two years, according to the latest records from the Bureau of Prisons. Holmes, who is now known as federal inmate 24965-111, will be released on December 29, 2032. She had initially been sentenced to 11 years and three months in a women-only minimum-security Texas prison. It is unclear why her sentence was shortened. The Bureau of Prisons states that release dates can change based on factors such as good conduct, completion of programs, and earned time credits. Holmes was convicted of wire fraud for deceiving doctors and patients about her company’s blood-testing services and defrauding investors of more than $700 million. She was ordered to pay $452 million in restitution to investors, with media mogul Rupert Murdoch representing the largest portion of those funds. Holmes will make monthly restitution payments of $250, but will not be required to do so until after her nine-year sentence is served. Holmes has been seen on the prison campus wearing the standard uniform and has been emotional during visits from her family. It is not known if she is still in isolation, but inmates at the minimum-security prison reportedly share bunk rooms. Prior to her conviction, Holmes lived a life of luxury in a multimillion-dollar mansion.
