Sept. 5 (UPI) — NBC made an exciting announcement on Tuesday, revealing that Season 2 of Quantum Leap will feature two new cast members. Eliza Taylor and Peter Gadiot will be joining the second season, set to premiere on Oct. 4.

Filming for Season 2 of Quantum Leap began prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike in July. Episode 8 was even shot on location in Egypt. This is the first announcement of additional cast members for the new season.

NBC has shared that Eliza Taylor will be portraying the character Hannah Carson, who will make her first appearance in Episode 3. Peter Gadiot, on the other hand, will play the role of Tom Westfall, an Army intelligence officer overseeing the Quantum Leap project. The exact timing of his character’s introduction on the show has not been specified by NBC.

Returning from Season 1 are cast members Raymond Lee, Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park, and Nanrisa Lee. Ernie Hudson’s character, Magic Williams, is the current superior of Quantum Leap. With the addition of Tom Westfall, this could create some interesting drama in the present-day storyline.

As a sequel to the original NBC series featuring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, Quantum Leap follows an ongoing Quantum Leap project. Raymond Lee portrays Dr. Ben Song, the central character who leaps through time. The project is also on a mission to find the missing character Sam Beckett, played by Scott Bakula, who never returned from his time travel adventure. Additionally, the show introduces Al’s daughter, portrayed by Georgina Reilley, as a new character.

The season premiere will showcase guest stars Melissa Roxburgh, Francois Arnaud, Aaron Abrams, and P.J. Byrne. The highly anticipated Egypt episode is scheduled to air on Dec. 6.

Quantum Leap airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT.
