Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in his debut on Monday night. This has led the NFLPA and other players to advocate for all-grass fields in the league.
However, former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who is familiar with the artificial turf at MetLife Stadium, seems to disagree with this sentiment.
During an appearance on the “Front Office Sports Today” podcast, Manning argued in favor of artificial turf fields, especially for MetLife Stadium where the Giants play. He believes that turf provides a reliable surface even in adverse conditions, preventing the field from becoming muddy and damaged. However, he does not believe that the turf played a role in Rodgers’ injury.
