In a quest for originality, Hudlin’s latest venture, “Candy Cane Lane,” features Eddie Murphy as a hardworking family man striving to triumph in a neighborhood holiday decoration contest after losing his job. Unlike the traditional festive film, Murphy’s character faces off against an adversarial elf (Jillian Bell) while receiving assistance from a cast that includes Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, and Chris Redd.
Hudlin emphasizes the movie’s aim to break away from the norm while preserving the beloved values associated with Christmas. Additionally, “Candy Cane Lane” marks Murphy’s inaugural Christmas movie and represents a reunion between the 61-year-old director and the iconic 62-year-old actor, who had previously collaborated on the hit comedy “Boomerang” in 1992.
