Ed Sheeran’s Memorable New York City Album Celebration: Party, Music, and Intoxication

Ed Sheeran treats New Yorkers to a night of free drinks as he embarks on a memorable bar crawl to celebrate the release of his latest album, “Autumn Variations,” which was unveiled on Friday.

In a video shared on social media on Friday, the “Eyes Closed” singer excitedly lays out his plan to visit various bars and buy rounds of drinks for strangers over a span of six hours.

“Let’s go,” exclaims Sheeran before the footage shows him engaging with patrons, clinking glasses with fellow bar-goers, and posing for photos with Stout NYC’s staff.

“We’re at the first bar, enjoying our first drink. I’ve already bought everyone in the bar a round, but we’re not done yet, we’re not done,” he declares in the clip.

Sheeran then hops on the subway, grabs another drink, plays beer pong with fans, and takes shots with more people at another bar.

Later, he heads to Off the Wagon in New York City’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, where he is greeted with enthusiastic chants before continuing the night with more shots.

“Alright, we’re calling it a night. The first place wasn’t feeling it. The second place? Not feeling it either,” Sheeran reveals. “We hopped on the subway and ended up here. I’m very drunk right now. Very drunk.”

Sheeran’s new album was primarily produced by Aaron Dessner of the National.

The singer’s bar crawl is just one of the surprise appearances he has made recently to promote his music and concerts. Sheeran has worked at the Lego Store in the Mall of America, served hot dogs at a famous Chicago restaurant, and even joined a youth recital in Boston to perform alongside children.
