Thousands of British travellers faced disruptions to their bank holiday travel plans when British Airways and easyJet had to cancel multiple flights. Air Traffic Control imposed reduced flying due to poor weather conditions in parts of Western Europe, leading to significant flight cancellations by both airlines on Thursday. The chaos continued into Friday as British Airways and easyJet cancelled at least 40 more flights between UK airports and various destinations, including the US, Greece, and Spain. Unhappy travellers took to social media to express their frustration, with some mentioning issues with the airlines’ customer service. Labour MP for Huddersfield, Barry Sheerman, described chaotic scenes at Heathrow with cancelled flights and stranded passengers. One user, Fi Golden, expressed disappointment after BA cancelled their flight from Glasgow to the US just two hours before departure and provided no assistance. Another user, Lionel, criticized British Airways for cancelling their flight twice with less than three hours’ notice and failing to answer phone calls.
