Since the release of the first Kindle eReader in 2007, the devices have supported audiobooks in addition to ebooks. Originally, this was achieved through a headphone jack on the device. However, with the decline in popularity of wired headphones, wireless Bluetooth connections have become the standard for listening to audiobooks on Kindles.
Fortunately, the Kindle has adapted to changing technology over the years. Starting in 2016, all Kindle eReaders were equipped with Bluetooth functionality, which has remained a constant feature since then. Any Kindle eReader manufactured in or after 2016 comes with built-in Bluetooth functionality. To connect Bluetooth headphones to your Kindle, follow these steps:
Power on your Bluetooth headphones and activate their pairing mode while in close proximity to your Kindle device.
On your Kindle device, tap the Menu icon.
Select All Settings or Settings.
Select Wi-Fi & Bluetooth or Wireless.
Enable the Bluetooth toggle.
Select Bluetooth Devices.
Your Kindle will scan for nearby Bluetooth-enabled devices.
When your headphones appear on the list, select them.
Click Connect.
Note that some headphones may require a PIN code for connection. Simply click YES on your Kindle to proceed. Once your headphones are paired with your Kindle eReader, you can easily connect them again whenever both devices are powered on.

While connecting Bluetooth headphones to a Kindle is relatively simple, it may not always work perfectly. If you encounter connection issues, try these troubleshooting steps:
First, ensure there are no other nearby Bluetooth devices interfering with the pairing process. Any excess wireless traffic can disrupt the signal. Check if your headphones are Bluetooth-compatible, specifically with the latest Bluetooth technology. Older headphones may not connect to your Kindle. Make sure your headphones are not already connected to another device, such as your phone or computer. Additionally, check that your Kindle’s software is up to date.
If your Kindle and headphones appear to be functioning correctly, try turning them off and on again to clear temporary files. If all else fails, consider a factory reset of either your Kindle, headphones, or both, but keep in mind that this will erase your saved files and settings.
