In early April, Kid Rock went viral when he filmed himself annihilating what appeared to be four 12-packs of Bud Light with an AR-15 shotgun. At the time, he expressed his disdain for Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch. This was in response to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney promoting the beer on her social media, a move that sparked backlash from conservatives and resulted in a boycott against Bud Light. Sales for the brand suffered as a consequence, despite Kid Rock’s Nashville restaurant continuing to serve it. Notably, other country stars like John Rich and Travis Tritt vowed to distance themselves from Bud Light. Kid Rock’s video of him destroying the beer gained attention on April 3. However, recent surveys suggest that American beer drinkers are warming up to Bud Light once more. In July, the percentage of Bud Light consumers unlikely to purchase the brand in the next few months decreased significantly from 18% to only 3%, according to Deutsche Bank. It is worth noting that Kid Rock and others reacted to Bud Light’s partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, which ignited controversy. Despite these signs of improvement, Bud Light sales continue to decline. Nielsen data indicates a 26.5% drop in sales for the week ending August 5. Additionally, volumes slumped 29.7% during that period, representing a greater decline compared to the previous week. Representatives from Anheuser-Busch have not yet responded to requests for comments from The Post.
