New Monsters and a New Vocation Unveiled in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma 2, the long-awaited sequel to Capcom’s action-RPG franchise, is set to be released on March 22, 2024. Fans were treated to a sneak peek of the game’s new features and gameplay details during a digital showcase on Tuesday.
Director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi showcased the powerful new monster, the Talos, a colossal brass warrior emerging from the sea. They also demonstrated various methods for battling the Talos, such as leaping onto it from a cliff’s edge, riding birds toward it, and using ranged weapons and spells.
Another exciting addition is a new vocation, the Trickster. This unique character class brings a deceptive gameplay style into the mix, allowing players to conjure illusions and manipulate the battle from the sidelines, causing chaos among enemies and enhancing the capabilities of allied pawns.
The Trickster will join the previously confirmed vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 including Fighter, Archer, Thief, Mage, Magick Archer, and Mystic Spearhand.
Capcom also showcased the updated character creator, utilizing photogrammetry technology to enhance the photorealism of player-created avatars in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Teasing a bit of the game’s story, the developers revealed that the narrative is set in a world parallel to the original Dragon’s Dogma, where players will find themselves entangled in the beliefs and plots of two rival nations. The game’s release is set for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, manifesting a powerful return after a decade-long hiatus since the original Dragon’s Dogma release in 2012, followed by the expansion Dark Arisen the next year.
