The outdoor plaza at downtown’s L.A. Live entertainment complex is set to undergo a transformation next month as it is renamed Peacock Place. This change is part of a naming-rights agreement between AEG officials and NBC Universal streaming service. In addition to the plaza, the Microsoft Theater will also be renamed Peacock Theater. These changes will be implemented on July 11.
The partnership between AEG and Peacock is seen as an exciting opportunity for both organizations. Nick Baker, Chief Operating Officer of AEG Global Partnerships, expresses his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are ecstatic for the opportunity to be able to partner with the amazing leadership team at Peacock for this long-term relationship. The content within the Peacock platform is ideal for our audiences and the synergies between both organizations around our variety of events is limitless.”
The specific details of the naming-rights agreement, including its duration and cost, have not been disclosed. However, it has been confirmed that the 40,000-square-foot plaza previously known as XBOX Plaza will be renamed Peacock Place. The larger entertainment district will still bear the name L.A. Live.
Peacock will also enjoy increased brand visibility throughout L.A. Live. This includes prominent interior and exterior signage at Peacock Theater, fixed signage at Peacock Place, a branded content studio, and various fan activations and brand integrations in premium locations across the sports and entertainment district. Additionally, an impressive LED marquee will be installed at the intersection of Figueroa and Olympic boulevards. This marquee will feature video boards that showcase events at Peacock Place while promoting programming on the Peacock streaming service.
Kelly Campbell, president of Peacock and Direct-to-Consumer services for NBC Universal, expresses her excitement about the opportunities presented by Peacock Theater and Peacock Place. She states, “Through Peacock Theater and Peacock Place, we’ll have the opportunity to bring all the elements of our brand to life with the millions of fans who visit L.A. Live each year, while partnering with the incredible team at AEG to further cement Peacock as the ultimate destination for audiences.”
