Downtown Naming Deal Secures Microsoft Theater’s Transformation to Peacock Theater

Next month, the outdoor plaza at downtown’s L.A. Live entertainment complex will undergo a transformation and be known as Peacock Place. This change is part of a naming-rights agreement between NBC Universal’s streaming service, Peacock, and AEG, the owner of the entertainment district and theater adjacent to Crypto.com Arena. The Microsoft Theater will also be renamed Peacock Theater as a result of this deal. The new names will take effect on July 11.

“We are thrilled to partner with the exceptional leadership team at Peacock for this long-term relationship,” stated Nick Baker, COO of AEG Global Partnerships. “The content on the Peacock platform aligns perfectly with our audiences, and there are endless opportunities for synergy between our organizations and our various events.”

The exact length of the agreement and its financial details have not been disclosed. The 40,000-square-foot plaza, previously known as XBOX Plaza, will be rebranded as Peacock Place. However, the overall entertainment district will retain the name L.A. Live.

As part of the agreement, Peacock will have an enhanced brand presence throughout L.A. Live. This includes interior and exterior signage at Peacock Theater, fixed signage at Peacock Place, a branded content studio, and customized fan activations and brand integrations at select premium locations within the sports and entertainment district.

In addition, a new LED marquee will be installed at the intersection of Figueroa and Olympic boulevards. This marquee will feature video boards showcasing events at Peacock Place and promoting the streaming service’s programming.

“Through Peacock Theater and Peacock Place, we will be able to fully express our brand to the millions of fans who visit L.A. Live each year,” said Kelly Campbell, President of Peacock and Direct-to-Consumer Services for NBC Universal. “Partnering with the incredible team at AEG will solidify Peacock as the ultimate destination for audiences.”
