Donald Trump’s $100 million PAC is left with only $3.6 million in cash.

Former President Donald Trump’s political action committee, Save America PAC, is currently left with only $3 million in funds. Meanwhile, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida and President Joe Biden both have over $100 million at their disposal, according to recent data analysis.

In the first half of 2023, Trump’s Save America PAC managed to raise $15 million, but spent over $30 million. As a result, they now have approximately $3.6 million remaining. This is a significant decrease compared to their strong starting position in 2022, where they raised over $100 million and ended the year with $18 million.

An analysis by NBC News reveals that Save America PAC allocated more than $20 million towards legal fees, disbursing payments to more than 40 different law firms. This expenditure on legal matters suggests that the small-dollar donor operation, which has been crucial to Trump’s fundraising success, might be diminishing.

Data from OpenSecrets indicates that during the 2020 presidential election when Trump faced defeat, his campaign and affiliated outside groups amassed over $300 million from donors who contributed $200 or less. This accounted for 48% of the total donations.

“Most of the money that middle-class Americans have given to him, he’s spent on his own legal fees,” commented former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie during an interview with CNBC.

Despite trailing behind Trump in polls, Christie and other candidates have received significant financial support. FEC records demonstrate that Christie has met with billionaire industrialist Charles Koch, as the Koch Industries-funded Americans for Prosperity Action accrued over $70 million in the first half of the year. Some of these funds are being deployed against Trump in the primary.

The super PAC backing Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida’s campaign is flourishing, having accumulated over $130 million in the first half of the year, with over $96 million currently available. DeSantis’ personal campaign raised around $20 million and ended the third quarter with just over $12 million in reserves.

President Joe Biden, through his campaign committees and joint fundraising committees, succeeded in raising more than $70 million in the second quarter.

Make America Great Again, Inc., the pro-Trump super PAC, raised approximately $14 million during the same time period. However, it appears to be facing spending troubles going into the latter half of 2023, having spent over $37 million on various items, including a hefty sum at Trump’s private club, Mar-a-Lago, earlier this year. The super PAC currently retains $30 million in funds.

In summary, while Trump’s PAC has experienced a decline in fundraising, other candidates like DeSantis and Biden have robust financial support. These figures ultimately shape the landscape of the upcoming 2024 GOP primary fight.
