Donald Trump Jr. Claims He Was Denied Access to Debate Spin Room

Donald Trump Jr. criticized Fox News on Wednesday, accusing the conservative network of attempting to suppress his father’s supporters by denying him access to the spin room after the GOP primary debate. Trump Jr. and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, among others, attended the event as surrogates for former President Donald Trump, who chose not to participate.

According to an internal memo, Fox News restricted access to the post-debate spin room, allowing only representatives of participating candidates. There were exceptions made for individuals invited by media organizations. However, both Trump Jr. and Greene claimed that the network blocked their entry. Trump Jr. and his fiancée Kimberley Guilfoyle expressed their frustration to reporters, stating that security prevented them from entering the spin room. Trump Jr. even claimed that he initially entered but was asked to leave by security.

In a tweet, Trump Jr. alleged that Fox News is censoring and silencing Trump supporters to protect establishment candidates. He also took a jab at the network’s declining ratings compared to his father’s interview with Tucker Carlson, which has garnered 93 million views.

Greene echoed similar sentiments in a tweet, accusing Fox News of engaging in a censorship campaign against Trump advocates. She also spoke to a right-wing news outlet, claiming that she and other Trump surrogates were not allowed into the spin room.

However, according to reporter David Weigel, several Trump surrogates including Trump Jr. and Gaetz, were able to enter the room without difficulty after the debate.

Fox News declined to comment on the matter.

Earlier in the week, Trump Jr. had announced his intention to attend the event in his father’s absence. He and Guilfoyle planned to make media appearances on behalf of the former president and promote their internet shows on the conservative video platform Rumble.

Guilfoyle, a former Fox News employee, criticized her former employer for the spin room rule, calling it “pathetic messaging.” She asserted that no one could stop her and Trump Jr. from going wherever they wanted.

In summary, Trump Jr. and Greene accused Fox News of trying to silence Trump supporters, but the network declined to comment on the allegations.
