MIAMI GARDENS, Fla., July 26 (UPI) — Tyreek Hill, the star of the Miami Dolphins, addressed the allegations of assault from a June 18 incident at a Miami marina. Hill stated that the issue has been resolved, but he is fully cooperating with the NFL in their investigation of the incident.
Hill made his first public statement regarding the incident during a news conference at Dolphins’ training camp in Miami Gardens, Fla.
The attorneys representing Hill and the alleged victim of the incident released a statement on Monday, announcing that they have resolved their differences.
“I’m not here to discuss the details of the story,” Hill said. “My focus is on playing football. However, I want to emphasize that the issue has been resolved. I am currently providing the NFL with all the necessary details regarding what happened on that day.”
According to the June 18 incident report from the Miami-Dade Police Department, Hill allegedly slapped the victim on the back of the head following a verbal altercation at the Miami marina. While the police investigated the incident, no charges were filed against Hill.
Hill, who had an outstanding season last year with 119 catches for 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns, may still face disciplinary action from the NFL, including fines or suspension, due to his involvement in the incident. The seven-time Pro Bowl selection’s case is currently being reviewed by the league.
“We have been in communication with both Tyreek and the NFL,” said Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel. “In situations like this, it is important to reserve judgment until all the facts are known. The league is still conducting its investigation, and we will continue to cooperate with them.”
Hill expressed his desire to focus on training camp as an opportunity to distance himself from the incident and media reports surrounding it.
“Being able to come here and play football allows me to escape from all of that,” Hill said. “I understand that I must learn from my mistakes and avoid making such errors in judgment.”
