Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias was recently arrested on charges of domestic violence, according to a report by ESPN. Urias was booked on Sunday night and released on Monday morning after posting a $50,000 bond.

The Dodgers released a statement on Monday, stating, “We are aware of the incident involving Julio Urias. While we gather all the facts, he will not be traveling with the team. The organization has no further comment at this time.”

This is not the first time Urias has faced such allegations. In 2019, he was suspended for 20 games under MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. The suspension stemmed from an incident in which Urias allegedly shoved his girlfriend to the ground in the parking lot of a Los Angeles shopping mall.

Urias issued a statement at the time, saying, “Even in this instance where there was no injury or history of violence, I understand and agree that Major League players should be held to a higher standard. I hold myself to a higher standard as well. I have taken proactive steps to help me grow as a person on and off the field, and in my relationships.”

Urias has been a key player in the Dodgers’ rotation for eight seasons, with a record of 11-8 and a 4.60 ERA in 21 starts this season. He is currently eligible for free agency.
