Disregard, reject, and then acknowledge his outstanding performance

It is unfortunate how natural disasters are often exploited for political gain, which is both distasteful and unproductive. No one has control over natural forces like earth, wind, fire, or water. However, President Biden’s response to the devastating wildfires in Maui reveals a concerning pattern. Instead of addressing difficult situations openly and honestly, he tends to ignore, evade, or downplay them until the criticism becomes overwhelming. Only then does he respond, often followed by self-praise.

Let’s consider the issue of rising prices, which has left many Americans dissatisfied with the economy, despite low unemployment rates and ample job opportunities. In June 2021, Biden dismissed consumer concerns about inflation, relying on the opinions of experts who claimed it wouldn’t last. Yet a few months later, he attributed the increased costs to the challenges posed by COVID-19, conveniently omitting the role played by his ill-advised $1.9 trillion spending spree at the beginning of his presidency.

Interestingly, when Biden finally acknowledged the impact of inflation on the American people, his proposed solution was even more audacious than his initial denial. In August 2022, he signed a spending bill, primarily focused on environmental social engineering, ironically named the Inflation Reduction Act. The architect of this questionable economic theory claimed it was the most important legislation against inflation and a significant milestone in our nation’s history. Yet, he failed to explain why it was so significant.

Biden’s approach to obfuscation was apparent in his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal as well. He handed the Taliban a major propaganda victory by announcing the withdrawal date coinciding with the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Despite intelligence suggesting the collapse of the Afghan government, he insisted it was unlikely. When the country fell before US troops and allies were safely evacuated, resulting in the loss of 13 service members, Biden shamelessly praised himself for an “extraordinary success.” He absurdly claimed his administration was ready for the Taliban takeover, disregarding the evidence. Furthermore, he used the mental health of American veterans and terrorists’ empty promises of safe passage to justify his decision.

Now, with the Maui wildfires, we see the president adopting his familiar strategy once again. While Biden promised to provide everything Maui needs, he conveniently remained silent and preoccupied while on vacation at the beach. When asked for a comment on the rising death toll, he dismissively replied with a simple “no comment.” It is astounding that the commander in chief could not spare a moment to address one of the deadliest wildfires in American history. And predictably, now that he has faced criticism, Biden plans to visit Maui, where he will likely evade responsibility and indulge in unwarranted self-congratulation.

In summary, it is disheartening to witness how President Biden handles difficult situations and disasters. His tendency to ignore, evade, and praise himself reflects a lack of accountability and transparency. It is crucial for leaders to address challenges head-on and take responsibility for their actions.
