Attention horror enthusiasts! Prepare yourselves because some of your favorite creepy movies will soon bid farewell to Netflix. In the month of August, while over 80 titles are joining the streaming service, 22 spine-chilling films will be leaving, including the iconic supernatural horror flicks, “The Ring” (2002) and “Paranormal Activity” (2007). Additionally, the TV series “Scream,” based on the popular slasher movies, will also be departing. This anthology show aired on MTV for two seasons and was later renewed for a third season by VH1, which premiered the final six episodes in 2019. Currently, there is a strike taking place in the entertainment industry, with writers and actors protesting for fair pay and better working conditions in the era of streaming.
Now, for those who are not fans of horror, there’s still some bad news. Several Academy Award-winning films will also make their exit from Netflix by the end of August. “Les Misérables” (2012) will bid adieu on August 15, while “If Beale Street Could Talk” (2018) will vanish on the last day of the month. Additionally, all six seasons of the beloved ’90s sitcom “Sister, Sister” and both seasons of the historical drama “Knightfall” on the History Channel will be leaving the platform in August.
