The California State Assembly recently passed legislation that mandates judges to consider whether a parent has acknowledged a child’s transgender identity in custody cases.
Initially, AB 957 required courts to evaluate whether each parent affirmed the gender identity of the child in question. However, a June amendment expanded the state’s definition of parental responsibility, demanding that parents affirm a child’s gender identity to be deemed fit for providing for the child’s well-being in court.

“The radical Left is determined to diminish parental authority. They want control over your children,” Scott declares. “I will resist, restore parental rights, and shield the next generation of kids from this absurdity.”
Last month, Scott unveiled his “Empower Parents Plan,” which he claims will give parents more control and safeguard students from the “classroom to the locker room to the smartphone.”
