ATHENS, Ga. — The top-ranked Georgia football team showcased its resilience in a thrilling Southeastern Conference win against South Carolina. After trailing 14-3 at halftime, the Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0 SEC) clinched a comeback victory with a score of 24-14 amid rainy conditions at Sanford Stadium, securing their first conference win of the season.

The Bulldogs’ offense came alive in the second half, scoring three rushing touchdowns. Their defense ramped up the pressure on South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler, completely shifting the momentum of the game. With another capacity crowd of 92,746 in attendance, Georgia dominated the field.

Quarterback Carson Beck displayed remarkable accuracy, completing 27 of 35 passes for 269 yards. The Bulldogs outgained the Gamecocks (1-2, 0-1) 458 to 309 in total yards, establishing their dominance on both offense and defense.

South Carolina took an early lead in the first quarter with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Rattler to Antwane Wells. Georgia quickly responded with a 31-yard field goal by Peyton Woodring, reducing the deficit. However, the Bulldogs missed a field goal attempt near the end of the second quarter, allowing the Gamecocks to seize the momentum before halftime.

The second half saw Georgia’s offense ignite, cutting South Carolina’s lead to 14-10 with a successful touchdown drive orchestrated by Beck. The defense followed suit with an impressive three-and-out possession, setting the stage for Georgia’s comeback.

The Bulldogs continued to dominate offensively, scoring another touchdown to take a 17-14 lead. A missed field goal attempt by Georgia prevented them from widening the gap, but their defense remained staunch, preventing South Carolina from mounting a comeback.

Georgia sealed their victory with a final touchdown, ending the game with a scoreline of 24-14. Safety Dan Jackson contributed to the win with a crucial interception in the last quarter. Rattler, who had a strong first half, struggled in the second half, finishing the game with 256 passing yards, two interceptions, and no additional touchdowns.

The Bulldogs’ victory extended several impressive streaks. They have now won 20 consecutive games overall, a school-record 30 regular-season games in a row, and secured their 21st consecutive win on Dooley Field. As two-time defending national champions, Georgia has won 32 of their last 33 games.

Next Saturday night, the Bulldogs will conclude their four-game homestand by facing UAB at 7:30 p.m. The team aims to maintain their unbeaten record as they continue their pursuit of another successful season.
