A San Francisco-based startup, Humane (also known as hu.ma.ne), recently unveiled its newest creation – the Ai Pin.
This gadget, which is an oddity at first glance, is a screenless smartphone, attached to your clothing, and integrated with AI technology – a combination nobody asked for.
The Ai Pin is designed to be conspicuous with a look-at-me design, likely to evoke mixed reactions from those outside Silicon Valley.
Despite its unorthodox appearance, the Ai Pin offers some interesting features such as the ability to take 13MP photos, send texts, and an AI virtual assistant based on advanced technology. It even includes Bluetooth capabilities and a “personic speaker”.
Additionally, its Ai Mic enhances search functionality and crafts messages in your voice. The device also functions as a music player and photographer, foreign language interpreter, and nutrition guide using computer vision.
Furthermore, the Ai Pin runs on Humane’s OS, Cosmos – an intelligent system without apps that provides a secure, intuitive user experience and connects to AI services instantly.
The Ai Pin is equipped with a touchpad for activation, and a “Trust Light” indicator. It supports hot-swappable battery boosters to extend its life and is available in Eclipse, Equinox, and Lunar color options.
Powered by an unspecified Snapdragon SoC, the Ai Pin is priced at $699 and comes with two battery boosters. It also requires a $24 per month subscription with data coverage through T-Mobile. Pre-orders begin on November 16, and shipping commences early next year.
