Discover how Hogwarts Legacy Switch stacks up against PS5: Could it have been better?

The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy, one of the top-selling games of the year, has been released. Despite minimal marketing efforts from Warner Bros., the publisher, fans are eager to see how Avalanche Software, the developer, managed to bring this sprawling open-world game to the portable hardware.

A comparison video by YouTube user Cycu1 showcases the Switch version’s graphics compared to the PlayStation 5. Additionally, SwitchUp, another YouTube channel, shared its thoughts on the Switch port, stating that the game “could have been far worse” and that it runs reasonably well, especially when played in handheld mode.

The Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy introduces 30-to-50-second loading times in its open-world to accommodate the hardware. SwitchUp notes that the loading times, while not deal breakers for most players, do impact the flow of the gameplay, particularly when loading between shops in towns.

Hogwarts Legacy was Europe’s best-selling game in the first half of 2023, with over 12 million copies sold in the first two weeks following its initial release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 10.
