All London residents are eligible to receive a grant of up to £2,000 when participating in the Mayor’s £110 million scrapping initiative.

While it may seem unlikely that the exclusive list of exempt special vehicles will cause sudden career or lifestyle changes for thrifty London drivers, there are additional measures in place to assist vulnerable individuals, charities, and small businesses.
Small businesses with fewer than 50 employees, micro-businesses with up to 10 employees, charities, and not-for-profit organizations can apply for temporary exemption from Ulez charges.
Applicants must demonstrate that they have either ordered a Ulez-compliant vehicle or have made arrangements to retrofit their current vehicle to meet emission standards.
The exemption remains in effect until the arrival of the new or retrofitted vehicle or until May 29, 2024, whichever comes first.
Individuals who receive specific disability benefits such as the Personal Independence Payment (PIP), are terminally ill, or are the parent or guardian of a child under the age of three with health conditions that prevent them from using public transportation can apply for Ulez fee exemption until October 25, 2027.
Disabled applicants must also hold a valid blue badge.
Vehicles employed for community transport by charities, schools, and local authorities may be eligible for a grace period until October 26, 2025.
