Devon Sawa Alleges Zero Payment for Final Destination 5 Cameo; Stands with SAG-AFTRA Strike in Deleted Tweet

Devon Sawa, the 44-year-old actor, recently revealed in a now-deleted Tweet that he received no compensation for his cameo appearance in Final Destination 5. Despite not filming a scene for the movie in person, the production team used old footage of Sawa from the previous films in the franchise. Sawa expressed his surprise at not receiving any residuals for his unexpected cameo, considering he played the main character in the original Final Destination film. He assumed that the footage would only be used for promotional purposes. Representatives for Sawa and Warner Bros have yet to comment on the matter. In the first Final Destination movie, Sawa portrayed Alex Browning, a teenager who escapes death but sees his friends perish. Although Sawa’s character is killed off-screen in Final Destination 2, his archival footage from the first film is used in Final Destination 5 to warn other characters about a fatal accident. Despite his lack of payment, Sawa expressed his love for the franchise and his excitement for the release of Final Destination 6 in 2024. Additionally, Sawa is an advocate for the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike and clarified that he is not angry about not receiving compensation for his cameo. He acknowledged that he signed the contract and appreciated the clever use of his footage.
