DeSean Jackson, Former Pro Bowl WR, Announces Retirement with Philadelphia Eagles

Retiring as an honorary captain for the Philadelphia Eagles, former Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson is bidding farewell to his illustrious 15-year NFL career. His official farewell will take place on Friday, with the honor of being an honorary captain for Sunday’s game against the 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field.

During his career, Jackson spent eight seasons with the Eagles, achieving all three of his Pro Bowl appearances in Philadelphia. Known for his game-breaking speed and ability as a receiver and returner, he also led the league in yards per reception four times.

Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie expressed his admiration for Jackson, stating, “DeSean Jackson was a dynamic playmaker who captivated Eagles fans with his game-breaking speed, unique skill set, and explosive play.” Lurie continued, “What made DeSean truly stand out during his accomplished 15-year career was his ability to make miraculous plays look routine.”

One of the most iconic moments of Jackson’s career came on Dec. 19, 2010, when the Eagles staged a remarkable comeback against the Giants. With 12 seconds left, Jackson returned a punt 65 yards for a game-winning touchdown, in a game that will forever be remembered as the “Miracle at the New Meadowlands.”

While Jackson also played for Washington, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Las Vegas, and the Los Angeles Rams, he concludes his career with the Eagles, earning a Super Bowl ring with the Los Angeles Rams despite not participating in the playoffs.
