DeSantis highlighted the age difference between Trump, who would be 78 on the first day of his second term if elected, and President Joe Biden. He noted that Trump’s approach to campaigning has changed since his previous run for office.
The governor’s campaign has even launched a “Trump Accident Tracker” to monitor and publicize Trump’s perceived missteps and mistakes. DeSantis has repeatedly emphasized his view that the presidency should not be entrusted to individuals approaching 80, referencing Biden’s age as well.
The 2024 presidential election is already shaping up to revolve around the age of the candidates, with Trump, Biden, and DeSantis playing key roles. DeSantis, who is 45 years old, doubled down on his stance, asserting that age is a significant factor and that “Father Time is undefeated.”
