Derek Carr Rumored to Take Lead as Starting Quarterback for the New Orleans Saints

The Derek Carr Saga continues as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the New Orleans Saints are planning for Carr to start against Tampa Bay this afternoon.

However, others aren’t as convinced as Schefter.

Just days after suffering a potentially season-ending shoulder injury, there are reports that New Orleans Saints’ Derek Carr may actually start this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Although Carr didn’t participate in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, he took all of the 1st team reps on Friday.

Carr left the game against the Packers after being sacked early in the 3rd quarter, creating fear among fans that the injury was serious. However, it turned out to be a sprained AC joint that will only require weeks to recover, not months.

So, there is a chance that Carr may not miss any games due to the injury.

Carr injured his shoulder early in the 3rd quarter of the game against the Packers, causing concern that it could be a severe injury and potentially end his season. Fortunately, the injury turned out to be a sprained AC joint, which is less serious than initially feared. However, Carr may still miss a couple of weeks of action.

Dr. Michael Duval, the team physician for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, explained the injury and Carr’s potential timeline for returning to the starting lineup on Wednesday’s SportsChat with Dave Schultz & Lynden Burton.

According to my interpretation, Derek has a low-grade acromioclavicular joint sprain. It’s a common injury that takes time to heal and absorb hits. It may be a couple of weeks before he can fully return to the field.

The Saints started the season with two close victories, thanks to Carr’s clutch throws. However, it seems likely that Jameis Winston will lead the team at least against the Buccaneers and potentially in the next game against New England.

After taking over for Carr in the Packers game, Winston performed well and put the Saints in position for a potential game-winning field goal. Unfortunately, the kick was missed, and the Saints fell just one point short.
