Ten individuals were wounded in a significant shooting that occurred early Tuesday in Denver. This incident took place in an area where basketball enthusiasts were joyously celebrating the Nuggets’ historic NBA championship victory. According to the Denver Police Department, the shooting transpired at approximately 12:30 am, around three and a half hours after the game had ended. Among the victims, three are currently in critical condition. The suspect responsible for the shooting, a man, is one of the seven individuals who sustained injuries that are considered non-life-threatening. The incident happened roughly a mile away from Ball Arena, where the Nuggets triumphed over the Miami Heat the previous night.
When asked about the events leading up to the altercation that resulted in the gunfire, police representative Doug Schepman stated that the investigation is ongoing. He mentioned, ” It occurred in the vicinity where the largest gathering of celebratory individuals took place during the night.” The crime scene was cordoned off with tape and evidence markers were placed. At the time of the shooting, there was a small crowd present, but it had significantly dwindled. Schepman noted that the incident occurred in an area where many people may have exited bars after the game. Witnesses are currently being interviewed, and Schepman described the ongoing investigation as “expansive.”
