Dems receive backlash for calling ‘ceasefire’ after Israel attacks: Understanding the importance of condemning terrorism

In the aftermath of Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel, a group of House Democrats known as the “Squad” faced backlash from conservatives online for their lackluster response. Several members of the progressive caucus issued statements condemning the violence and calling for de-escalation. However, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., remained silent on the attack. Fox News Digital reached out to Tlaib’s office for comment but did not receive a response. On the other hand, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., called for a ceasefire and de-escalation, expressing her condemnation of Hamas’ attack. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., also condemned the violence and called for a de-escalation and ceasefire. However, these statements were not without criticism, with commentators and conservatives questioning their sincerity and pointing out previous controversial statements made by Omar. Rep. Ayanna Pressley and Rep. Jamaal Bowman also issued statements condemning the attacks and calling for peace. Nevertheless, they too faced criticism for their stance on Israel. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in numerous casualties and an urgent need for a resolution.
