Declining Late Late Show Ratings: Alarming Viewer Disinterest as New Figures Unveiled

The latest ratings reveal a significant decline in viewership following Patrick Kielty’s debut as host of the show.

Kielty’s first show attracted an average of 830,000 viewers, with a peak viewership of 940,000. However, in the second week, viewership dropped by over 33% to 548,000.

Although the decline slowed, it continued into Kielty’s third show, attracting only 486,000 viewers.

The episode has received an additional 48,000 streams on the RTÉ Player, bringing the total viewership to 534,000.

Last Friday’s show achieved a 45% audience share on television, compared to 51% the previous week and 62% during Kielty’s first week as host.

According to an RTÉ spokesperson, the Late Late Show with Patrick Kielty had an average audience of 486,000 and a 45% audience share. Additionally, the episode received 48,000 streams on the RTÉ Player.

The spokesperson also announced that Kielty will be hosting his first Late Late Country Special this Friday.

Baz Ashmawy’s new quiz show, The Money List, attracted an average audience of 219,000 with an 18% audience share on Sunday night. The rugby match between South Africa and Tonga had 280,000 viewers and a 25% audience share, with 35,000 additional streams on the RTÉ Player.

During last Friday’s show, ‘The Body Coach’ Joe Wicks revealed that he was a last-minute addition to the lineup. Kielty expressed surprise at Wicks’ presence in Ireland and explained how they managed to bring him on the show.

Kielty will be hosting his first Late Late Country Special this Friday.

Singer Cliona Hagan surprised a viewer in Rathangan, Co Kildare, on Friday’s show, revealing that the viewer had won two tickets to the show.

Daniel O’Donnell headlined last season’s country music special, hosted by former host Ryan Tubridy in March. Other artists like Nathan Carter, Margo, and Cliona Hagan also appeared on the show.

Tubridy had previously announced his departure from the chat show after 14 years. Reflecting on his experience with the country music world, Tubridy expressed his gratitude for the friends he made along the way.
