Danny Masterson’s “Conan” Interview: Controversial Sexual Misconduct Joke Exposed

In a shocking turn of events, an old interview clip resurfaced on social media, leaving many stunned by its eerie relevance. The clip features a conversation between TV host Conan O’Brien and actor Danny Masterson from a 2004 episode of “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” Little did anyone know at the time that a joke made by Conan would take on a much darker meaning years later.

During the banter, Conan remarks, “I’ve heard about you, and you’ll be caught soon.” Little did he know how prophetic those words would become. Danny Masterson was recently sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for raping two women. The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter), quickly went viral, garnering nearly 700,000 views.

The incidents occurred between 2001 and 2003, while the “Conan” episode aired on December 22, 2004. It is unsettling to think about how long it took for justice to be served. The victims claimed that Scientology officials discouraged them from coming forward, causing significant delays in the investigation. It took three years for their allegations to be properly investigated and for Masterson to be arrested, which finally happened in June 2020.

In the 2004 interview, Masterson was promoting the seventh season of the popular Fox sitcom “That ’70s Show” in which he played Hyde. The conversation mainly revolved around sports, but Conan did point out Masterson’s lack of a Long Island accent, despite his upbringing. Masterson jokingly mentioned that his friend Bodhi Elfman, another celebrity member of the Church of Scientology, made fun of his accent.

The now-infamous joke came when Masterson imitated Elfman, saying, “Hi, my name is Danny Masterson. Would you like to touch my balls?” Conan responded with laughter and questioned why Masterson would ask such a thing. Masterson brushed it off, jokingly agreeing with Conan’s earlier remark about him being “caught.”

The resurfaced video prompted various reactions on X. Some expressed shock by sharing GIFs, while others made light-hearted comments about the coincidence. One person quipped, “So when he gets out it’ll be That 70 Year Old Show.” References to “The Simpsons” were also made, as fans pointed out Conan’s involvement in the show and its reputation for seemingly predicting future events.

HuffPost attempted to reach out to Masterson’s attorneys and Conan’s representatives for comment but did not receive a response.
