Chicago Mayor’s Strategic Plan: Relocating 1,600 Migrants from Police Station to Winter-Ready Tents

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has unveiled plans to relocate the city’s 1,600 asylum-seeking migrants from police stations to winterized camps with large tents before the arrival of winter.

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Mayor Johnson stated that the relocations would take place “before the weather begins to shift and change.”

The mayor explained that each of the spacious tents would be capable of accommodating up to 1,000 migrants. Additionally, the camps would provide meals, as well as recreational and educational activities as part of the plan.

Mayor Johnson and his administration are collaborating with the State of Illinois and Cook County to establish additional shelters to alleviate some of the strain on Chicago, he announced.

“These families are coming to the city of Chicago… If we do not create an infrastructure where we’re able to support and, quite frankly, oversee these individuals who have experienced significant harm and desperation, it may lead to chaos,” Mayor Johnson warned.

The response from Mayor Johnson’s office to Fox News Digital’s inquiries on the matter is pending.
