Dan Patrick is nearing the end of his career.
During the “Dan Patrick Show” on Wednesday, the team discussed pooling money for Powerball tickets.
At that moment, Patrick stated that he would continue working for as long as he wanted to do the show.
This prompted producer Marvin Prince to inquire about the duration of Patrick’s work.
“Four more years,” Patrick replied.
Patrick’s show airs on Fox Sports Radio and Peacock.
Prince expressed doubt, suggesting Patrick would extend his career beyond the four-year period.
“No,” Patrick insisted.
“Four more years, until December. That’s how long I’ll be doing this. By January 2028, I will be embarking on ‘The Golden Bachelor.’ That will mark the end of my time behind the microphone.
“I’m going to give my hairpiece to Fritzy [producer Todd Fritz],” Patrick jokingly added.
As a retirement plan, Patrick playfully mentioned becoming a fishing guide in Montana or Costa Rica.
Patrick, currently 66 years old, plans to retire at the age of 70.
Later, a caller expressed disappointment and said listeners needed eight more years.
“No, no, no,” Patrick responded.
“This is a young man’s game. I’m the oldest one doing this. Although I enjoy it, I’m calling it quits by the end of 2027. You have my word, so plan accordingly. You have four and a half years to prepare for that moment.”
Patrick has hosted his show since 1999, originally on ESPN Radio. When he left the network in 2007, he took control of the program himself.
