Guardian Angels founder and former Republican nominee for New York City mayor, Curtis Sliwa, was arrested on Sunday while participating in a protest against the Midland Beach Migrant Shelter on Staten Island. Video footage captured Sliwa and his supporters demonstrating in front of the shelter, which was formerly the Midland Beach Senior Citizen Home.
In a press release prior to the event, Sliwa criticized New York City Mayor Eric Adams, accusing him of evicting elderly residents from the nursing home to accommodate illegal migrants. Sliwa referred to Adams as “despicable.”

Sliwa’s commitment to the cause was evident as he actively participated in blocking the street and joined fellow protesters in displaying American flags and chanting “USA, USA, USA.” Eventually, Sliwa and others were arrested, handcuffed, and transported in a police vehicle.
Since the spring, the number of migrants entering New York City has reached over 93,000, according to the mayor’s office. Mayor Eric Adams recently announced that there is no longer sufficient accommodation for migrants in the city.
